In my experience joomla based websites are some bit slow while compare with others and also contribute considerable load to server ,in case of joomal Each website require Joomla to be install separately . Joomla is written server side PHP and MySQL and html ,java script in client side , so in joomla there is no connection to Postgresql or support for PDO or any other server script JSP,ASP..etc . The system generated URL are poor for search engine optimization(SEO), so you need to use a thirdrd party extension to fix this problem . you need to make some trial website before going to develop real one in Joomla and joomla does not provide self upgrading system and you need to upgrade manually and making upgrade is also a head ache

Installing Joomla is very simple and easy, but you must take care your webhost meets all the requirements for installing Joomla . These include an Apache Web Server, a MySQL database, and PHP. .Once these facility available in your webhost you can install Joomla.
